A LS member faked his car label with a hologram of a underwear firm to breach Parliament security.
NEW DELHI: The much-vaunted security cordon around Parliament House has once again proved to be brittle. It took a BJP MP just a photocopier and the hologram of a well-known underwear company to breach the car-label system created earlier this year. Needless to say, those in charge are running for cover. Vijayendra Pal Singh, Lok Sabha member from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, allegedly faked his car label so he could use a different vehicle during the monsoon session in August.
A member is issued only one label. Parliament House sources said Singh had been issued a label for his Honda car, number DDY 97. Mid-August, however, Singh rode into Parliament in a different car, a Mercedes (DL6C 3124). Sources alleged that the MP used a photocopy of the car label issued to him and stuck it on the Mercedes.
The original registration number appeared to have been tampered with. The security hologram on the car label was faked using the hologram bearing the brand name of an undergarments firm. Upon getting suspicious, the security personnel asked the MP if the label was the one he had been issued by Parliament's security staff. After trying to evade queries, the member admitted that he was indeed using another car since the Honda (with the original car label) was under repair. The security establishment has since filed a complaint against the member. Singh is away on a tour of Australia and New Zealand and could not be contacted for comment.
